'Kathy... I have always known her and called her Kathy. I guess that is because my earliest memories of her were at times when I was visiting my Granny, who was one of Kathy's aunts, Pearl Carpenter Brune. Granny must have introduced her to me as Kathy. 
My Granny would drive us over to the house where Kathy and George lived every once in awhile when I happened to be in San Antonio for a visit. I can see that house in my mind's eye, but not all of it. I remember that just off of the living area that had a view of the backyard was a large bathroom. That is where Kathy pierced my ears! She used a potato and a large needle. Granny purchased my pearl stud earrings at a jewelry store at one of the malls and gifted them to me for this special occasion. I was 9 years old at the time. Kathy had pierced my mother's ears when she was 9 years old, too! 
Kathy and George were in and out of my life at family gatherings through the years. It was always a pleasure to see them both! 
I greatly admired Kathy. She was like royalty to me. Our visits were always too short. She was always delighted to see me... I could tell by the sparkle in her eyes, which seemed to match her beautiful smile. She always looked as if she were stepping out of the pages of a magazine... hair beautifully styled, makeup applied perfectly, dressed in gorgeous designer outfits that were suited especially for her trim and petite figure, and she always wore the scent of the most exquisite fragrances. She has always been one of the most beautiful women I've ever known. 
I loved Kathy just as much for her sweet heart. She was smart, witty, personable, and down to earth. I loved her laughter, too. I never found a thing about Kathy to complain about, but I guess not having her close by and with us more. I never heard her utter an ugly remark, either. 
Kathy was a person who deserved my respect and admiration. I will always think of her fondly and love her just the way she remains in my mind's eye. 
Many thanks to those who were there for her in her later years, months, and days. I know you will miss her terribly. My heart goes out to you. May God grant you peace and comfort.'
