Kathryn H. Drees, age 85, passed away July 17, 2001 at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness. Born on December 27, 1915, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, "Kay" was the daughter of the late Donald S. and Anna B. Helwick, and the widow of William F. Drees, Sr. She lived in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights as a child and graduated from Shaker Heights High School. After working for three years, she entered Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, where she met her lifelong love, Bill Drees. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority during her college years. She graduated in 1941 with a Bachelors Degree in Business, and married Bill on December 26, 1941, in Red Bank, New Jersey, while he was on leave from his Army unit at Fort Dix. They became active members of the Greater Lebanon Association. She volunteered many hours at the Lebanon Historical Society and Museum and more leisurely hours on the local golf course. She was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. A short while after Bill's death in 1983, Kay moved to San Antonio, Texas, to live with her son, and continued to live near him while his family moved from San Antonio, Houston, and finally to Boerne.
