

At the age of twelve, Kenneth became a dedicated member of the Harlandale Presbyterian Church.
Kenneth's later dedication to service was followed by his time spent in the National Guard for eight years. At this same time, he sponsored a group of Boy Scouts. In his early twenties, Kenneth became a life-long member of the Harlandale Lions Club. He served there in many capacities as well as two terms as President.
After graduating in 1957 from Harlandale High School, Kenneth enrolled in San Antonio College and later obtained higher education by attending Texas Lutheran College.
In 1962, Kenneth was employed at the Bexar County Jail and served as a jail guard. He planned to have the employment for only a short time. He quickly took the oath of office and became a Bexar County Sheriff which led him to have a successful career in the community. Kenneth was awarded a Meritorious Service Certificate from Bexar County on June 30, 2003 for his faithful service on behalf of law enforcement.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Bilhartz, of 56 years and his loving daughter, Meredith Bilhartz.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, followed by a chapel service at 12:00 PM.
Kenneth's legacy of faith, kindness, dedication and love of country and others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
