

Kenneth received his bachelor’s degree in 1959 from Mississippi State University and immediately was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps of the U.S. Army. He had multiple duty locations throughout his military career, including Fort Riley, Fort McPherson, Okinawa, Washington, D.C. in the Office of The Surgeon General of the Army, Health Services Command at Fort Sam Houston, Vietnam, and Germany. He Commanded the Army’s Largest Medical Materiel Agency, in Germany and provided medical logistics support to U.S. Military and State Department medical activities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. During his career he provided leadership in the development and deployment of medical logistics systems used throughout the Army. He retired as a Colonel in 1988. His awards and medals include the Order of Military Medical Merit, Bronze Star Medal, multiple Meritorious Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He continued his contributions to the Army as an Army contractor for the next few years, continuing in the development of medical logistics systems, improving them, and developing computer-based training.
Kenneth was active in the First Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member of committees, greeter of visitors and volunteering at the church’s Fourth Street Café. His other volunteer activities included preparing tax returns for low-income families. He also volunteered his time at a thrift shop supporting St. Joseph Children’s Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother; and his son, Kenneth Eugene Crow Jr. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Florence Howell Crow; and sister, Susan Hollinger; and family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary

Rev. Chris Johnson will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choice.
