

He is survived by his wife, Martha Orr Miller; son, Keith Miller; daughter-in-law, Beverly Miller and grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Matthew Miller and Kendra Miller (namesake).
Ken was the son of the late Leo and Effie Miller. Ken grew up in Brownwood, Texas, where he graduated High School. He attended TCU on a football scholarship and studied business where he excelled in football and in the classroom. Scholastically, he was an academic all Southwest Conference football player, a Distinguished Military Student and commander of his ROTC unit.
As an athlete, he played in two Cotton Bowl classics and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. A happy memory for him was his contributions in helping TCU defeat Ohio State, the eventual national champion. But the most significant moment of his college life was when he met the love of his life, and partner for 57 years of marriage, Martha Orr, on the TCU campus. Ken served in the Army Quartermaster Core in Fort Lee, Virginia. After active service, Ken was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Army.
He was a very patriotic man and dedicated to America. Ken Miller worked for Southwestern Bell for almost 32 years. Ken retired as a Division Manager with responsibilities covering most of Southeast Texas. He was also a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers charitable organization, where he served as President of the South Texas chapter.
Upon retirement in Houston, Ken and Martha had the privilege of working as volunteers for The Honorable George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Bush which was a memory they enjoyed. Ken's life was not defined by his academic, athletic or professional achievements.
He was a loving husband, a kind and generous father and grandfather and most importantly a servant of Christ. His love for his family and his church were paramount to him. He was ordained as Deacon at Second Baptist Church of Houston and continued to serve as a Deacon at Castle Hills First Baptist Church for several years in various capacities including co - chair of the Bold Faith initiative and co-chair of the Benevolence Committee.
He was privileged to be re-dedicated through baptism in the Jordan River in Israel in January, 2000. Ken never missed an opportunity to show love or give of his time. He was a dedicated Christian and follower of Christ. Ken loved The Lord with all his heart and soul.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. at Castle Hills First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
