Larry Patrick Foley, age 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on November 30, 1949 in Albany, Oregon, to his parents Irma Evelyn (Graber) and Patrick Eugene Foley.
A proud patriot, Larry dedicated much of his life to serving his country. In 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private, embarking on a distinguished military career that spanned well over two decades. Through his dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment, he rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 before retiring in 1994. Even after his military service, Larry continued his work in intelligence, serving both the State Department and the U.S. Army until his full retirement in 2013.
Beyond his career, Larry found great joy in traveling, snow skiing, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved family. His adventurous spirit, sharp wit, and warm heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Claudia; his cherished children, Cheri, Larry (Lee), & David; his adored grandchildren, Christina, Skylar, & Finn; and his four great-grandchildren Hunter, Madison, Kiyah & Layla; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Larry’s legacy of service, love, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In celebration of his life, the family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., with Father Eric Ritter officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Larry’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Larry’s honor.
