Leonard (Johnny) Almendarez was born in Kenedy, Texas on April 11, 1934 to Refugio and Maria C. Almendarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Almendarez and Daughter, Brenda Almendarez.
He is survived by his sister, Connie A. Garza.
He played football in high school and later played baseball with the Kenedy Aces. Served honorably in the army from 1956 to 1958 – rank PFC.
A visitation for Johnny will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
