LILA BENITA ORTIZ TORRES

Lila nació en Catacos, Piura, Perú el 5 de Enero de 1922; fallecio en la ciudad de San Antonio, TX USA el 15 de Enero del 2014, acompañada en sus últimos momentos por su hija Vilma Baldwin-López, su yerno Luis López, y sus muy queridos nietos Lucero y Diego López-Baldwin.

Lila fue hija de Pedro Benjamín Ortiz Flores y Estefanía Torres.

Fue bautizada en la Iglesia Católica en la Parroquia San Juan Bautista de Catocaos.

Lila vivió sus primeros años en Piura, para luego viajar a la Ciudad de Lima, donde estudió en el Colegio María Auxiliadora. Posteriormente entró a la Facultad de Farmacia de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, graduandose con Honores el año 1950, ejerciendo su profesión para el Ministerio de Salud, hasta su retiro del Hospital del Niño de Lima el año de 1981.

Sus últimos años Lila se dedico en alma y corazón a ayudar a su hija Vilma a completar su carrera y posteriorment a criar a sus nietos, hasta el momento de su sensible fallecimiento.

En su vida demostró su amor a su profesión, su fé en Dios. Vivió su vida con humildad, ayudando a la gente que necesitaba, en especial durante los últimos años en el Hospital de Niño.

Siempre inculcó en su hija Vilma la importancia del amor al prójimo, el amor al estudio y sobre todo a vivir la vida con honestidad y respeto por los demás, y posteriorment hizo lo mismo con sus nietos, a los que vió crecer, desarrollar y encaminarse en sus metas profesionales. Todo esto lo hizo con amor y con gran satisfaccióon de haber completado su tarea exitosamente.

Agradecemos a quienes nos acompañan en el dolor y han expresado sus sentimientos, sabiendo que ahora está en mejores manos, y cuidando a sus seres queridos desde el cielo.

Lila was born in Catacos, Piura, Perú on the 5th of January 1922; She passed in the city of San Antonio, TX USA on the 15th of January 2014, she spent her final moments with her daughter, Vilma Baldwin-Lopez, her son-in-law, Luis Lopez, and her beloved grandchildren Lucero and Diego Lopez-Baldwin.

Lila was the daughter of Pedro Benjamín Ortiz Flores and Estefanía Torres.

She was baptized in the Catholic Faith at the Saint John the Baptist Church in Catocaos.

Lila lived her early life in Piura, and later moved to the city of Lima Lima, where she studied at the Colegio María Auxiliadora. She then studied at the School of Pharmacy of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, graduating with Honors in 1950, then exercising her profession for the Ministry of Health until her retirement from the Children’s Hospital of Lima in 1981.

In her later years Lila dedicated her heart and soul to helping her daughter Vilma to complete her professional degree, and later to help raise her grandchildren until the time of her death.

Throughout her life she demonstrated a deep love for her profession, and her faith in God. She lived her life with humility, helping those in need, especially during her years in the Children’s Hospital.

She always taught her daughter, Vilma, the importance of loving her neighbors, loving her studies, and most of all to live her life with honesty and respect for others, and later did the same with her grandchildren whom she saw grow, mature, and reach their professional goals. All of this she did with love, and great satisfaction at having completing her tasks successfully.

We thank those who are with us in this painful time and have expressed their sentiments, knowing that she is now in better hands, and watching over those she loved from heaven.
