It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Linda Bason, who left this world on July 4, 2025, at the age of 78. Linda was spending time surrounded by nature—doing what she loved most—with her cherished daughter, Deana, by her side.
Born on March 17, 1947, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda was a light in every life she touched. She radiated warmth, compassion, and selfless love. To her devoted husband, Bob Bason, she was simply “Babe,” and he was her “Sparky.” Theirs was a bond built on laughter, devotion, and an enduring love that spanned 33 beautiful years. Bob often called Linda his “yellow rose”—a symbol of her vibrant spirit and grace.
Linda was a gentle, nurturing mother whose strength and love shaped the lives of her children. She leaves behind her loving daughters: Jodi (Gerald) Coker, Angela (Dustin) Sparks, and Andraya (Keith) Nemerow; her grandchildren: Heather (Adem) Atis, Courtney Coker, and Asher Nemerow; her great-grandchildren: Ela Atis and Taner Atis—each of whom brought her immense pride and joy; and brothers: Ed Rasco, Kenny Rasco, Bret Rasco and Bill Rasco.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering presence, gentle spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. Whether through a homecooked meal, heartfelt advice, or simply sitting beside you in silence, Linda gave her whole heart—always. Her smile could light up a room, and her twinkling eyes reflected the joy she found in life’s simplest moments.
Linda loved the outdoors, gardening, camping, reading, and crafting. She had a playful spirit and a few quirks we all adored—like her uncanny ability to hold on to pantry and fridge items long past their prime. It was just one of the many things that made her uniquely Linda.
She dedicated over four decades of her life to Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio, where she was deeply admired by coworkers and patients alike. Her quiet strength, loyalty, and compassion will live on in the countless lives she touched.
A memorial service celebrating the lives of both Linda and Deana will be held on August 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Porter Loring West Funeral Home. All who knew and loved Linda are invited to join us in remembering and honoring her extraordinary life. In tribute to Linda’s favorite color, we kindly ask guests to wear blue—her favorite shade that brought her so much joy. A reception will follow, with the location to be shared at its conclusion.
Though we mourn deeply, we find peace in knowing that Linda is now reunited with her beloved daughter, Deana Hillock, and her dear mother, Dorothy Rasco, and her father, Dale Rasco. Her love surrounds us still—in memories, in stories, in the way we care for one another.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
