I had the privilege of knowing Lloyd when I worked as a Highway patrol trooper in the early 80’s.  He was a wonderful man with a great personality!  Always enjoyed our interactions with each other!  Rest easy my friend! ❤️

Lloyd had a very grateful heart and this is the reason why he was loved from the first time you met him. As a police officer he would do anything to assist any fellow officer’s if they needed assistance and never complained.  

He did everything and worked hard to reach his dreams.  He was not only a great officer but a great family man and realtor. 

To say we will miss Lloyd would be an understatement. You’re not here but your presence and memories will always linger on.   Lloyd, my brother and I were Blessed to have had the honor to  worked  with you on patrol at SAPD. 

Thank you so much for all the memories. You may now rest in peace. May God Bless You Forever.

A visit to see Dad in 2019 with the family.

One of the last adventures I took Dad on before he was unable to do these types of things. I took him to Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg TX and even though he was a little apprehensive at first he relaxed and tried to enjoy himself out on the Rock. I was grateful to get him out doing something fun.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that I pay tribute to a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to the service and protection of our community.  Lloyd was not just a coworker but a friend, a mentor, and a symbol of unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of justice and safety.
For many years, I had the privilege of working alongside Lloyd, at West and Prue and during that time, I witnessed his tireless efforts to make our streets safer, our neighborhoods more secure, and our lives better.

 I first met Lloyd in 1981 when Lloyd was still a DPS Trooper.  By chance we ended up on a call together on Vance Jackson rd, and remained friends ever since. As a few years later Lloyd would join our ranks of SAPD. Lloyd was a wealth of knowledge when it came to Traffic and DWI, laws. As we used to jokingly call him Triple A with a gun. 
Lloyd was a beacon of integrity and professionalism. He approached every day with a sense of duty and responsibility that was unwavering. His calm demeanor in the face of adversity, his compassion when dealing with those in need, and his courage in the line of duty set the gold standard for what it means to be a policeman.
In my shared experiences, I came to know Lloyd not only as a dedicated law enforcement officer but as a warm and kind-hearted individual. He was always there to offer support, a friendly word, or a listening ear. He believed in the importance of community and the power of unity, and he demonstrated these values in every interaction.
The passing of Lloyd leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched and the difference he made. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives and our community. His memory will forever remind us of the importance of service, sacrifice, and the strength of the human spirit.

I met Lloyd in 1985, he was an instructor at the Regional Police Academy and I was attending the Basic Peace Officer Course.  I noticed right away that Lloyd was a serious guy, but had a great sense of humor.  He offered during the Academy for me to come work under him and learn , I took him up on that and he mentored me for two years until he went to SAPD.   I never called him anything but Chief, and he always called me Puppy, the nickname he gave me because I was so young. Lloyd taught professionalism and to hold the line between right and wrong even at personal cost.  His mentoring served me well in my career and still to this day.   Thank God for men like Lloyd.   Scott, your Dad is awesome!  Rest in peace faithful servant.   Thanks again Chief!

My  condolences to the Griggs family. I worked with Lloyd as a young  police officer at Prue Rd B-shift. He taught me how to run moving radar. I remember one time I scared him. We were on Directed Patrol, I hit the brakes real hard on the police car and whipped  across a  grass median on 1604. I was chasing a speeding vehicle. Although I knew he was scared with my driving, he kept a calm demeanor the whole time.  Lloyd was full of knowledge and you could talk with him about anything. Take care Lloyd, and may God bless your family through this difficult time.

Having Lloyd and Andraya visit me in Belize. This was dinner after Lloyd and I went scuba diving earlier in the day. With sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lloyd. I know he will be missed!

Lloyd, was more than a stepfather to me, he was a confidant, a teacher of life lessons and responsibilities, and a friend. He was a great role model in my life, who taught me structure and independence, and how to lead a successful career in life. He was always so caring, genuine and understanding. He loved my mother, Diana Fidone Griggs, unconditionally, he was her best friend, and always took care of her, they made a great team, and he loved her deeply. Their love was so special. I’ll never forget, when I was in my teenage years when they first started dating, she was over the moon. She had never been treated so well in her life! They both showered each other with love and affection, and I was truly happy for both of them. The day they got married, was an absolute joy! 
Lloyd was an outstanding police officer, he enjoyed boating and water skiing, which I spent a lot of time doing with him and my mother, he loved a glass of red wine, and he was always want to make you laugh with his silly sense of humor.  I will cherish these fond memories. I am truly sad to see him pass, but he is finally at peace, hopefully he’s dancing in the clouds, hugging, and laughing with my dear mother, they are both angels now, soar high you two!

I called Lloyd a friend and a co-worker.  I always admired his professionalism as a police officer.  I remembered thinking he was something of an Iron man having gone through the SAPD Academy at an “advanced” age.  I have a recollection that he did a stint with DPS and was a police chief during his career.  After I retired, Lloyd asked me to build a patio cover/ balcony onto his home.  During that process I got to know Lloyd much better.  I will miss you friend.  God’s speed, I know you and Diana are together again.

This is sad to hear. I worked with Lloyd back in 95 & 96 when we both were assigned to PPB. I was a rookie probationary officer and Lloyd was a great mentor. He was always calm and cool on our calls and he never treated me like a “boot.” If we weren’t on a call, we’d spend time just talking about anything and everything. He would talk about his wife, his love of flying, and water skiing as I recall. I lost track of him over the years and often wondered what he was up to. Rest in peace my friend. I worked with a lot of officers over the years and I have forgotten most of their names, especially from those early years, but I never forgot Lloyd.

Lloyd has always held a special place in my heart. For some reason Lloyd was so easy to care for. He loved to eat pizza. When I did a pizza party for my staff, I always included Lloyd and he had the biggest smile. I will miss his light in this world. You are at peace now. You are missed
