

Lola Mae Ackermann Koltermann, age 86, of San Antonio, Texas, was called home by the Lord April 17, 2013. Lola will be remembered as a kind and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, an adoring wife, and a skilled business woman. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, Hilmer and Minnie Ackermann, and her husband, Calvin Koltermann. Lola, born February 20, 1927, traced her ancestry to early German settlers of Texas. Her parents were farmers, and she spent her childhood on land that had been passed down through the generations. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1944, and it was there that she met her sweetheart Calvin. They were married on April 6, 1946 and remained devoted to each other for 59 years. Lola was the heart and soul of the family, showering all with love and affection. As she and Calvin built their business, she also became an excellent financial manager. Their family and business prospered over the years, and in their retirement, they enjoyed travelling, visiting their ranch, and spending quality time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her final years, Lola endured the afflictions of Alzheimer’s disease, but through it all she remained a sweet and loving spirit. Her family is comforted in knowing that she is now at peace with the Lord.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of caregivers at Sodalis Elder Living (formerly Alzcare) and Hope Hospice, both of New Braunfels, TX.
Lola is survived by her daughters Janice Williams (husband Charles) and Karen White (husband Jim) both of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Ryan Williams (wife Alison) of Keller, TX, Chris Cochran (wife Tammy) of San Antonio, TX, Jason Williams (wife Desiree) of Wellsville, PA, Amanda Cochran of Austin, TX; great grandchildren Aidan, Kieran, and Kathryn Williams, Coleman and Carter Cochran, Calvin and Ronald Williams; sister-in-law Rosa Lee Baumann of Floresville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, April 21, and a funeral service will be held at 9 AM Monday, April 22, immediately followed by interment, all at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX.
Lola was a member of the Lutheran faith and wished memorial gifts to be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 502 E. Nueva St., San Antonio, TX 78205.
