Louella Joy Mayes

Louella Joy Mayes entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2012 at the age of 76. She was born on June 17, 1935 in Herington, KS to Henry Ernst Wilhelm and Anna Louise Barre Brockmeier. She worked for years doing security clearences for the military and eventually retired from Kelly AFB. She loved to cook and try new recipes. She especially loved all of her many pets. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her so dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Mayes; her parents; sister, Erma Mills; brothers, Milton and Herbert Brockmeier. Louella is survived by her daughters, Debra Mayes, Jody Garcia, and Elizabeth Wergin and husband Michael; grandchildren, Courtney, Caitlin, Desiree and husband Eric, Drew, Shaina, Joseph, and Vincent; one great-grandchild, Ian Cash; sister, Frieda Farrar of Salina, KS; brother-in-law, Wayne Mills of Abilene, KS; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, 6914 Wurzbach Rd. Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Roselawn Mortuary in Salina, KS. Interment will immediately follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
