
Mrs. Frank P. Louise B. Wood died in San Antonio on May 26, 2002. She was born in Mineola, Texas, and was a graduate of the Mineola High School and the St. Paul Hospital School of Nursing, Dallas, Texas. She was married to Brigadier General Frank P. Wood in 1941. Prior to and during World War II, she was stationed with General Wood at various Air Force Flying Training Bases in Texas. Upon his departure for overseas duty, she returned to Dallas, Texas, to await his return from overseas in 1945. After the war was over, she and General Wood were stationed at Headquarters USAF in the Pentagon, Washington, D. C. and at various Air Force Bases throughout the United States. They lived in the Hague, Netherlands for 3 years where General Wood was Chief Air Force Section, MAAG-Netherlands. Ten years later, they were stationed in Rome, Italy for 2 years where Gen. Wood was Chief MAAG-Italy and Senior Defense Representative to the Italian Government. She was a life long member of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was active in Christian Women's activities wherever she and General Wood were stationed and also after his retirement in Austin and San Antonio. She was a member of Central Christian Church, San Antonio. She was active in Air Force Wives Clubs, the University of Texas - Austin Ladies Club and the Austin Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her son, F. Michael Wood, in 1982. She is survived by her husband, Brigadier General Frank P. Wood; two grandchildren, F. Michael Wood, Jr., and Elizabeth B. Wood, great grandson, F. Michael Wood III, all of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Leroy Buie, Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law, Barbara Brinkerhoff Meyer, San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
