

She was born June 13, 1926, in Kentucky, to Tiburcio and Maria Villegas.
Not only was she raised in Kentucky, but she also resided in Mexico and Indiana, where she finally settled, married and raised their family.
She was not afraid of hard work, as she raised their children she also worked tirelessly as a waitress, in a dental office and assisting with elderly care for Operation Hope at the Nicosia Center.
She also was a political activist for several mayoral races in Indiana. However, after the death of her husband and due to her declining health, she moved to San Antonio to be with her daughters who lovingly cared for her until her death.
She will always be remembered for her loving, ambitious and gentle nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose Garcia; and sister, Juanita Janie Villegas.
Lupe is survived by her children, Linda M. Jimenez, Maria Nieto, Jerry E. Nieto and wife, Veronica; sisters, Maria Villegas, Lucy Mendoza and husband, Jose, and Maria de Carmen Lucero; grandchildren, Teresa M. and Alexis Jimenez, Alicia Cavazos, Tracie Rivera, Jocel and Jessica Nieto; and numerous great-grandchildren.
