Lynette Morris Warburton passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on October 7th, 2014. Born in Temple, Texas on June 7, 1940 to Cecil B. Morris and Lois Nelson Morris, she soon found herself living in many cities across the state due to her father’s work with H.B. Zachry Construction. Along the way, Lynn made many lifetime friendships and touched many lives with her outgoing personality and independent spirit. After graduating from Edison High School in San Antonio, Lynn first attended Weatherford Junior College before graduating from East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas with a degree in education. Soon after, she began teaching elementary school in San Antonio. When a problem tooth led her to the dental office, she met her future husband, Dr. Albert H. Warburton, DDS, whom she married in 1967. While raising four sons, she completed her Masters Degree from the University of the Incarnate Word, and after teaching for several years turned her focus to assisting her husband with the administrative demands of his dental practice. Lynn’s adventurous spirit was infectious, and Al soon found himself traveling with her both within the United States as well as around the globe, from Central and South America to Europe and Asia, with Scotland and Ireland her personal favorite destinations (countries they visited often when they weren’t spending time in Santa Fe, New Mexico or trekking across Big Bend National Park). In later years, while still traveling the globe, she turned her attention to assisting those in need, supporting the efforts of several local non-profit organizations. Whether she was baking desserts for the local Ronald McDonald House or providing accounting and sales support to The Assistance League of San Antonio’s Thrift House, Lynn never tired of helping others. She also always found time for her family, whom she truly loved; especially her grandchildren, who brightened up her life in ways immeasurable.
She is survived by her sons, Richard S. Warburton of Aransas Pass and Michael S. Warburton of Austin; daughter Lisa Cardoshinsky and her husband Vince of Fredericksburg; sister Glynda Marcus and her husband, Robert Marcus, of Moab, Utah; grandchildren Caitlin, Chloe, Rachel, and Chase Warburton and Jennifer Milner; nephews Troy Warden and his wife Heather, and Chris Warden, and niece Kimberly Holmes and her husband Ryder; and great aunt Bobbi Mitchell. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews as well as a host of close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert H. Warburton III, who passed away in July of this year, and children Kevin, Wayne, and Rose Warburton. Lynn and Al’s wishes were to have their ashes scattered in their favorite destination, Ireland, by their close family.
To celebrate their lives, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Assistance League of San Antonio.
