Manuel was a loving son who always took care of his mother, Eunice and grew to be very independent. He joined the US Army, where he valiantly served in both World War II and the Korean War. After 12 years of service, he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and was a proud Purple Heart recipient. He was a dedicated hardworking man who spent 40 years in the trucking industry setting records for his fellow drivers and proudly served as his own owner and operator of his vehicle. In his free time he enjoyed playing card games with family and friends, he loved to fish and was an excellent chess player. Mr. Evans was very giving as can be seen in his philanthropy; he contributed all that he could to education for children in Africa.
He leaves behind sons, Manuel Evans Jr, Donnie Ray Evans, John Evans, and daughter Mccheral Evans Lofton. Manuel Evans will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
