Margaret “Margie” Bearbower of San Antonio, age 75, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021. She was born in San Antonio on February 18, 1946, to Margaret Herrera and Phillip G. Lopez. Margie graduated from Brackenridge High School and soon after she met the love of her life, Don Bearbower, an airman at Randolph AFB. After a whirlwind courtship Margie and Don were married on August 6, 1966 at San Fernando Cathedral. They continued to live in San Antonio and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2016.
When Margie entered heaven, she was reunited with her loving husband, Don, and her devoted parents, Margaret and Phillip Lopez. She is survived by her sons, Donald F. Bearbower II and Robert A. Bearbower (Roxanne); grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Bearbower; and siblings, Ernie Lopez (Beverly), Phillip Lopez (Terry), Manuel Lopez (Armandina), David Lopez, and Olga “Cookie” Rodriguez (Ramiro).
Margie was beautiful, generous, joyful, and funny. Above all, she loved her family dearly. The arrival of her grandchildren brought much delight, allowing her to love even more. She also shared her affection with extended family and many, many friends. Margie was renowned for her cooking and baking. Her enthusiasm and skill in the kitchen exemplified her generous spirit. She was the “Enchilada Queen”, preparing at least 60 of the tasty treats whenever she invited guests for a Tex-Mex meal. Bearbower Thanksgiving feasts were legendary with huge amounts of many fantastic dishes, topped off with the best turkey gravy ever. And, if you wanted a freshly baked cake, you just dropped a hint, and in a couple of hours, Margie was cutting you a slice.
The family greatly appreciates the care provided to Margie by staff of The Heights on Huebner.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Porter Loring North.
