Margarita “Maggie” Santacruz went home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the age of 63. Maggie was born on June 3, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, to Franco J. Santacruz and Josefina E. Santacruz. She is survived by her beloved sons, Rene A. Santacruz and Oscar Rangel Jr. Maggie will be remembered as a woman of great faith, a trusted friend, and a compassionate mother.
Maggie graduated from Incarnate Word High School in 1977. She went on to achieve her degree in Interior Design at Saint Mary’s University in 1980. Throughout her life, Maggie had an eye for coloration and ornamentation. While working at various companies using her skills in interior design, Maggie established many great lifelong friendships that were maintained and solidified through shared love and meaningful memories. Maggie would often capture these wonderful memories on film, for preservation and remembrance. As she transitioned throughout career paths, Maggie continued to befriend many co-workers & neighbors, gathering a close circle of friends that were considered family.
Maggie was well known throughout her community. She was frequently recognized throughout her time in San Antonio at stores and restaurants, always personifying her kindness and taking the time to initiate conversations. Phone calls with her friends and prayers for her loved ones were a part of her daily routine. Maggie cared deeply for those she considered close, as she herself has always been a protector. She was a strong, selfless, honest, and independent woman who valued the people she knew and met. Maggie’s presence will remain alive through the wisdom she shared with those that had once crossed her path, and the love she provided unconditionally. Her spirit will live in our memories, and her love will live in our hearts for eternity.
