

Maria Lydia Palma, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 26, 1939, in La Pryor, Texas, to Juanita G. Lucio and Jose Valles. Maria lived a life marked by strength, compassion, and a deeply giving heart. She was always willing to help others, offering kindness, generosity, and support to anyone in need.
Maria’s greatest joy came from being a mother. She is survived by her children: Estanislado Palma III; Francisco V. Palma and his wife Christina; Diane P. Howard and her husband Joe; and Jose L. Palma and his wife Matilda. She was a proud grandmother and leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren: Estanislado Palma IV, Christine M. Palma-Ortiz (Evonne), Pearl Morado, Frank Palma Jr. (Kristiana), Louisa M. Carrales (Joshua), Sonia M. Palma, Joseph D. Lambert, Michelle R. Brettmann (David), Jessica M. Palma, Jose Palma (Luvia), Alexus Palma (Jaren), and Jeremy Palma. She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Maria is also survived by her siblings: Roy Lucio (Alice) and family; Jessie Lucio and family; and Rachel Rivera and family. She leaves behind numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Estanislado Palma Jr.; her daughter, Sylvia A. Palma; and her son, Miquel V. Palma.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family finds peace in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband and children who passed before her.
A Committal service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, United States. The service is scheduled for December 29, 2025, at 10:30 am.
