Marie Erwin Phelps

Marie was married to James C. Phelps for more than 66 years. She was a loving and supportive wife and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Marie also found time to volunteer at hospitals in Houston, Greenwich, and San Antonio. She particularly enjoyed her service as a Blue Bird volunteer at Methodist Hospital. She also served as a volunteer in fundraising events for the United Way, American Heart Association and Methodist Hospital. Marie was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ona and Grace Erwin and her brother, Odell.

Marie is survived by her husband, James C. Phelps; son, R. Randall Phelps of San Antonio; son, Ronald C. Phelps and his wife, Kris of Austin; grandchildren, Brian Phelps of Houston and Paige Naugher and her husband, Lane, also of Houston; brothers, Calvin Erwin, Bill Erwin and his wife, Virginia, and Jim Erwin and his wife, Carole; sister, Mary Hornbuckle and her husband, Connie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
