Mary Sue Arnn is survived by her son, Ralph and wife Lisa of San Antonio and their three daughters, Courtney, Grace and Abigail. Her sister, JoAnn Stribling and her three sons, Jay, Jim and Dees survive her, as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 49 years, Kenneth E. Arnn, of Ardmore.
Mary Sue was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School class of 1949, where she was the valedictorian. She attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. This is where she met her husband Kenneth and they were married that summer of 1952 at her parent's home in San Antonio.
They lived in West Texas and in 1954 moved to Point Barrow, Alaska to teach school for the government. They spent about 18 months in Point Barrow (which is inside the Arctic Circle). They returned to West Texas, and then they soon moved to South Dakota, where Kenneth was offered a job with the Department of Interior. In 1968 Kenneth was transferred to Ardmore where they spent the next 40 plus years.
This is where her love for education and always having a giving heart blossomed. Mary Sue served on numerous committees for various charities around Ardmore. She worked tirelessly with The Children's Shelter, City of Ardmore, St. Phillips Episcopal Church, and the education of children of Ardmore, which was her greatest passion. She served three consecutive five year terms on the Board of Education for the Ardmore City Schools. She also served on the State Board of Education in a position appointed by the Governor of Oklahoma.
The family wishes to thank The Laurels assisted living facility in San Antonio for providing loving and comfortable care for Mary Sue during her four years in San Antonio.
