Mary Louise Arnott

Mary Louise McGee Arnott passed away at Air Force Village II Health Care Center on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the age of 95. She was born on May 16, 1916 in Elkhart County, Indiana, to Chester and Myrtle Wilson McGee. She attended Monon, IN public schools, graduating in 1933. Mary worked as a waitress, saving her money and tips, to pay her way through college. She graduated from International Business College, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mary was employed by Northern Indiana Public Service Company, and Edward J Funk & Sons Company in Kentland, IN. She served as President of the Kentland Business and Professional Women's Club. She and Bill were married at Lowry AFB Chapel in 1942. They have one daughter, Dr. Marilyn Arnott of Narberth, PA.

Mary accompanied her husband at several stateside bases and one overseas assignment, at Yokota Air Base in Japan, where she became active in leadership roles with the Girl Scouts. Homemaking and church work kept her busy throughout her married life. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and foreign lands. They lived in Austin, TX, for 30 years, then moved to San Antonio Air Force Village I in 1984 and Air Force Village II in 1987.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Lt/Col. Ret. Jacob W Arnott, a sister, Rachel McGee Querry, and a brother, Walter McGee. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Marilyn Arnott, and partner, Dr. Judith Katz, of Narberth, PA; sister-in-law Mildred McGee of Lafayette, IN; nieces, Leah McConaghy, Janice Odom, and Sally Johnson; and nephews, Norman Querry, Roger Querry, David Silden, Eric Silden, and Douglas McGee.

Memorial services will be held at AFV II High Flight Chapel at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, followed by a reception in the Helen LaMay room.

Interment services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:45 am on Thursday, July 28, 2011.
