Mary Cecelia Fisher

Mary Cecelia Thomas Fisher, age 92, died on October 21, 2015, at home in the arms of her loving son, John. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on January 19, 1923, to Archie Bailey and Bertha Gerlach Thomas. She became a homemaker at an early age, caring for her younger siblings, Beverly and Dean, after the death of her mother. She married Jack F. Fisher on July 23, 1942. She then moved around the country with Jack while he served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. They settled in San Antonio and opened and operated a series of auto body shops, which later became Sanders Fisher Auto Body. Mary was a loving wife, mother and homemaker; a devout parishioner of St. Peter Prince of the Apostle Parish for over 60 years; and an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Her favorite job was First Grade Teaching Assistant at St. Peter’s Catholic School, where she taught reading and math using creative strategies and manipulatives she developed. Mary had a passion for her faith, her family and friends, helping others, gardening, cooking, and crafts. All who met her were drawn to her sky blue eyes, beautiful smile, and loving personality.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jack F. Fisher, son, Michael G. Fisher, granddaughter, Corrie Ann Fisher, and grandsons, Dustin and Shane Fisher. She was survived by children, John F. Fisher, Cathy and husband, Ron Somody, Mark and wife, Dorothy Fisher; grandchildren, Kristine Fisher, Michael Jack and wife, Jennifer Rhea, Lauren Somody, Catrina Somody, Travis and wife, Dana Fisher, Anthony Davis, and Tonia and husband, Ryan Morowski.

Visitation and rosary will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday, October 27 at 6:00 pm. Funeral mass will take place at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 28, at 10:00 am, followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
