

Mary Jane B. Flores was born on July 26, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. She passed away peacefully at the age of 60 on February 6, 2012 at 12:21 a.m. while surrounded by her husband, sons, daughters in law, and younger brother. Mary Jane was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and will be forever missed by all her family and friends. She was a proud graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, Class of 1969. While at Lanier, she was a member of the “Blue Jacket” Pep Squad team and cheered along side her loving sister Barbara. Mary Jane married her high school sweetheart Homer S. Flores on September 12, 1969. Together, Homer and Mary Jane enjoyed 42 years of marriage. They have an ever growing family of 5 sons and 17 grandchildren. Mary Jane was a true professional having worked at Kelly AFB, The Law Offices of Nicholas and Barrera, Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, and the South San Antonio Independent School District where she retired from in November of 2011. She was delighted to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 76, Women’s Auxiliary Club. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Dolores Barcenas and sisters; Mary Esther Perez and Hortence Barcenas. She is survived by her husband Homer S. Flores, sons; Homer Flores Jr. and his wife Patricia, Michael A. Flores and his wife America, Greg Flores, Patrick H. Flores and his wife Patricia, and Matthew J. Flores and his fiancé Johanne, siblings; Louis Barcenas and his wife Mary, Barbara Espinoza, John Barcenas and his wife Diane, Lawrence Barcenas and his wife Anita, Robert Barcenas, Richard Barcenas, and Jaime Barcenas. Mary Jane will be remembered and celebrated by her nieces, nephews, and her 17 grandchildren: Justin P., Joshua M., Katelyn M., Nathan A., Nathan R., April, Jacob, Victoria K., Kristy R., Angelica R., Brooke, Xavier M., Giovanni R., Romeo A., Mateo J., Favian G., and Zoe M.
The entire family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the 6th floor staff of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at The Baptist Medical Center, downtown San Antonio. They provided great comfort and care to Mary Jane throughout her stay and into her final moments.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Viewing scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Trevino Funeral Home located at 2525 Palo Alto Road from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Rosary Recital will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located on 1321 El Paso Street on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:45 a.m. The procession leaving Trevino Funeral Home to the church will depart no later than 9:15 a.m. on Thursday February 16, 2012.
