Mary was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church for more than 10 years and prior to that at St Thomas Episcopal Church for over 20 years. She served in many capacities including heading up the Altar Guild for both churches. Mary worked for USAA for over 20 years and then at the Nowlin Law Firm. She had many talents including ceramics, knitting, sewing and cake decorating. Mary considered it an honor to knit for Threads of Love for over ten years. Many friends and family members received beautiful handmade gifts from her throughout the years.
When she wasn't enjoying her various hobbies and serving her church and family, she could always be found enjoying a good book and spending time on the lake. Mary was blessed with the gift of conversation and was able to talk to anyone about anything. If you had a question about San Antonio history, she could answer without hesitation. An avid animal lover, she gave homes to many dogs over the years, most recently her beloved puppy, Maggie. She married in 1941 and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Loehman, her parents, and a sister, Ruth Elley.
Mary is survived by a daughter: Nancy Locklear (Bill), son: Bud Loehman, and daughter-in-law: Marcy Loehman. She has four grandchildren: Virginia Wilson (Will Sampson), Christy Parkhurst (Scott), Jill Smith (Ricky), and Reid Loehman (Amy). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Kira and James Sampson, Megan and Savannah Parkhurst, Lindsey and Blake Smith, and Reagan and Landrie Loehman. Mary had many nieces, nephews and friends, including her dear neighbor, Diane who was always there for her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2016, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
