During the winter months, Pauline and her husband enjoyed spending time as "snowbirds" in New Braunfels, Texas. They moved to San Antonio after she retired from years of dedicated service as the Deputy County Treasurer in Cherokee. During their 10 years of residence here, they became members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Pauline was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved the San Antonio Spurs, and was a creative decorator. Even though she was far from her hometown, she routinely kept up with the happenings of Cherokee through their Chronicle Times newspaper.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Leonard Kress. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 ½ years, David W. McCauley; daughter, Jane Zarate and husband, Roberto; son, Michael McCauley; grandchildren, Shelly, Sheri and Sean McCauley, Patton Zarate and wife, Tara, Estevan Zarate and wife, Catherine, Matthew and Ashley Zarate; and several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Pauline McCauley to the ACCD Foundation at 201 West Sheridan, Ste. C3, San Antonio, Texas 78204, in order to establish a Pauline McCauley Scholarship Fund.
