Mary Anne Michaud, 90, of Kerrville, Texas, left us peacefully on February 25, 2025. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary Anne will always be remembered for her kindness and love of dogs.
Born on November 1, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, she was raised in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Orrin C. and Mary F. French, and sister to Nancy Driscoll (MO) and Robert French (GA).
In December of 1952, Mary Anne married the love of her life, Alfred L. Michaud, and moved to San Antonio. They were married for 63 years. Their union yielded 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her family kept Mary Anne busy! She lived in San Antonio for 64 years. She was PTA president, Girl Scout leader, Den Mother, piano accompanist for UIL Solo and Ensemble contests, Sunday school teacher, and pianist for several congregations. She learned how to run an offset printing press and process camera for her business and built her own darkroom. After learning how to obedience train dogs through the San Antonio Dog Training Club, she successfully trained her own. When she moved to Round Rock, she worked with the Williamson County Animal Shelter going to various RRISD schools where she taught animal care classes to elementary school students. Besides riding her bike for fun and exercise, Mary Anne built and sailed cardboard box boats for the annual cardboard boat race at Old Settlers Park. Her three boats, named the Calico Cat, the Rubber Duckie, and the Sunflower, were all labors of love. She was also involved with various organizations associated with the military such as the Officer’s Wives Club, MOWW and the ROA, taking on leadership roles in each.
Mary Anne is survived by her sister, Nancy Driscoll; and her brother, Robert French (Cynthia); her children, Kathryn Johnston (Terry), Barbara Holland (Robert), Robert Michaud (Margaret), Michael Michaud (Gay Lynn), David Michaud (Monika); her grandchildren, Stacy Michaud, Sharon Coker (Brian), Sheila Enriquez (Richard), Aaron Jones (Hong), Laura Jones (Terry), Charles Austin (Margaret), Andrew Austin (Judith), Daniel Michaud (Yen), Cynthia Ownby (Cale), Timothy Michaud (Timber), Danielle Michaud, Thomas Michaud, Mark Michaud; and great- grandchildren, Annie Michaud, Anna Coker, Alfred Coker, Jasmine Coker, Aric Villanueva, Mabel Enriquez, Isaac Jones, Liana Jones, Lilia Jones, and Nicholas Michaud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Alfred L. Michaud; her son, Colonel Steven D. Michaud (Kathie); her grandson, Master Sgt. Sean Michaud; and her great-grandson, Russell Michaud.
