Mary Louise Russell Rodriquez passed away on April 26, 2020 in San Antonio, TX. She was the second child in the Russell family, born on August 28, 1926 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mary spent her early years in Alabama with her grandmother. In her teenage years, she joined her mother in McAllen, TX where she first learned to speak Spanish.
Mary moved to Kansas to attend nursing school and received her nursing license. It was also in Kansas where she met her husband, Reimundo Rodriquez. After a tour of duty in Spain, the family was stationed in Del Rio, TX which later became their home.
She later embraced the Methodist faith tradition and gave her life to Christ. As a nurse, she was dedicated to serving her community. She was very social, loved barbeques and being outdoors. In her later years, she enjoyed going out to eat and sitting in the park with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Reimundo Rodriquez; stepson, Jerry Ross Sr., as well as her siblings, LeBaron, Ernest, Elizabeth, Grace, Frank, James and John.
She is survived by her sisters, Carole G. Phenix of San Antonio, TX and Dorothy R. Gilbert of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Barbara Ann Alderman (Fred) of Orlando, FL; her stepson, Gary Rodriquez of Pompano Beach, FL; grandson, Jerry Ross, Jr. (Mary) of Del Rio, TX and her “adopted” son, Ernesto Salinas (Remy) of Del Rio, TX.
Mary Louise Rodriquez will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
