Mary Pauline Polly Wenzel

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Pauline Riggs; her sister, Marie Olszewski and her husband, August "Augie" Wenzel and two grandsons, Scott Wenzel and Michael Blount.

Polly retired from a successful career at Fort Sam Houston after 28 years as a GS-13. She and her husband enjoyed living on a small farm near New Braunfels where they raised livestock and enjoyed sharing vegetables from their large gardens with friends and family. Their doors were always open and many happy memories were made there. Polly moved back to San Antonio after her husband's death to be closer to her children. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and playing in bridge tournaments with friends.

She was very loved by her children, Linda Blount, Carl and Cathy Wenzel, Gus Wenzel and Tom and Sue Wenzel; her grandchildren and spouses, Riah Blount and Eric Flores, Amy and Charlie Woytek , Leslie and JD Ibarra, Katie Wenzel and Aimee Landon and two great-grandchildren, Aden Sparhawk and Stella Ibarra. The family wishes to especially thank Christine Matthews Jerdon, who loved and cared for Polly. We will forever be grateful for her compassion and concern.

A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross cemetery.
