Mary Mildred Whalen, age 97, passed away June 5, 2004. She was born in Grand Junction, Iowa on April 19, 1907, moved to San Antonio as a small girl, attended and graduated from Ursaline Academy and Our Lady of the Lake University.
She spent forty years as a most dedicated and loved teacher working with 1st and 2nd grade students at Woodlawn Elementary School. In later years, as a life long Catholic, she could be seen walking to daily Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church where she was very active in the Altar Society.
She is survived by the fondest of memories of her many students, both in and out of the classroom.
