

Mary Lillian Sheppard Plemons Youngblood, “Momma”, was received into Heaven at 9:05am on March 21, 2012 where she immediately used strong new lungs to sing with the angels, flawless new teeth to smile at her Lord who she could see clearly with perfect new eyes, all while dancing on strong new bones with her friends and family that preceded her to Heaven. Born in Kerens, Texas on October 10, 1915, she grew up in Brownwood, Texas, graduating from Brownwood High School. In 1939, she graduated from Howard Payne University, followed by a career working for the State Land Office for 25 years. She has called San Antonio her home for the past 25 years, and spent some of her most beloved times living at Independence Hill Retirement Community. There she fought courageously to maintain her “independence”, while spending cherished time with her vast circle of friends. She loved her family, her friends and her Spurs passionately, but above all she loved her Lord Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.H. Sheppard Sr. of Brownwood, first husband, Elmore Plemons, second husband, John Youngblood, sister, Elizabeth Fine, and brother, James Sheppard Jr. Survived by one sister, Pat Noga Breedlove of Tyler, daughter, Mary Ann Morris and husband, Brett, of San Antonio, granddaughters, Linda Lotz of Austin, Michelle Hotchkiss and husband, Jason, of San Antonio, grandsons, Kyle Morris and wife, Carla, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Kevin Morris of San Antonio, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 5 nephews and many great- nieces and nephews.
She was best known to her family as “Sister”. A truly wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who lived life with a dynamic internal energy that embraced all. Momma was a prayer warrior for her family and friends, and leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith and a heart overflowing with love. The family would like to thank the staff of Methodist Hospital and Odyssey House for their compassionate care given to Momma in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
