

He was a loving and caring husband to his wife, Dorothy; a loving step-father to his step-children, Jon and Tammy; and a doting grandfather to his granddaughter, Hallie.
Melvin looked forward to Hallie's weekly visits where playtime was the order of the day.
He was a champion of the poor and others less fortunate and a strong supporter of the homeless, often going out into the neighborhood purchasing clothing, and other items from garage sales and taking them down to the SAMM shelter.
Melvin served proudly in Word War II and was attached to the 387th Bomb Group, 558th Bomb Squadron flying combat out of St. Quentin, France. He flew 31 combat missions in a B-26 as a radio-gunner.
Melvin participated in the family business of Sol Frank Company and successfully started a number of businesses including Newsland Book Stores, The Red Carpet Restaurant with partners Harold Cohen and Charles Madden, SunMart Inc., and Family Fashions with partner Sid Serota. He was an investor in the stock market, following the oil and gas industry with great enthusiasm.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Sol Frank and Rose Rosenberg Frank; brother, Irving Frank; and stepson, Jon Trimble.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dorothy; step-daughter, Tammy Lee and husband, Rick Bell; granddaughter, Hallie Ann Bell; brother, Selig and wife, Bertie Frank; sisters, Celia Kalish and Leanore and husband, Mike Kavy; sister-in-law, Elaine Frank; mother-in-law, Emily Willms along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
