Michael Lee Ashmore II, 31, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas after a long struggle with addiction. He was born on February 14, 1991, in Fort Lewis, Washington. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Okinawa, Japan where he received lots of attention with his blond hair and blue eyes. He attended school in the Round Rock/Georgetown area. Many of his summers were spent with cousins at his grandparent’s home in Round Mountain. As an adult, he tended to spend time in Austin and San Antonio. Although he was not born in Texas, he always considered himself a son of The Lone Star State. Although he endured many struggles, he was able to find happiness and share his friendship with others. He had a caring heart for anyone that he thought needed help and looked for ways to lessen the burdens for them. He expressed a loyalty and protectiveness for those that he loved. He had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. He was also passionate about Pokémon and anime. He gave the best hugs that enveloped you while he squeezed the air out of your lungs. His smile was contagious, and you felt blessed when he shared it with you. He was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry as a way to express himself. He was a beautiful boy and will be missed by his many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Jennifer Kring, Frank Ashmore and Dennie Short. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Tina Ashmore, Bulverde, TX; big sister, Katie Ashmore-Prather, San Antonio, TX; niece Melody, Spicewood, TX, grandmother Linda Short, Round Mountain, TX, aunt and uncles; Lisa (Judith) Knapp, Pflugerville, TX, Jimmy (Cleo) Knapp, Deer Lodge, MT, Tammy (Billy) Cardwell, Lakewood, WA, Michael (Becky) Short, Round Mountain, TX, Chris (Jana) Short, Round Rock, TX. Along with many cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the best way to honor his memory would be to share a kind thought with someone that needs it, perform an act of service for someone where a need is identified, make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice that is working to make the world better. As you do these things, please share your act of kindness as a memorial on Michael’s tribute wall to highlight the goodness that exists.
For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all that we can do. 2 Nephi 25:23
