With heavy hearts and steadfast hope, we announce the passing of Michael Allen Meyer, a faithful servant of God, devoted husband, father, Papa, son, brother and friend entered his eternal rest on June 12, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on January 19, 1956, in Wheaton, Minnesota to Melvin N. and Joyce (Holmberg) Meyer. Mike proudly served in the United Stated Air Force until he retired in July 2000 with multiple medals and honors. He faithfully served as Executive Pastor at First Assembly Church of God in San Antonio for 20 years until he retired in 2024.
Mike was the heart of his family, a man whose love, strength, generosity, kindness and unwavering faith guided those around him through life’s joys and challenges. He was a loyal loving husband to his beloved wife, Kandy (or as Mike always called her-his bride) for over 50 beautiful years and the proud father to Matthew and Steven Meyer. Some of his greatest joys were found in simple quiet moments; family dinners, long talks, shared laughter and pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, values, loyalty, integrity, mentoring and was always the encourager.
Mike is survived by his wife Kandy; his son, Matthew Meyer and daughter-in-law, Amber Meyer, his son, Steven Meyer and daughter-in-law, Valerie Felan; his grandchildren Jessalyn Meyer, Lyric Meyer, Peytlin Meyer, Rowan Meyer, Brielle Woodward and Penelope Woodward; his mother Joyce Meyer; his brothers, Craig Meyer and David Meyer; and his sisters, Danielle Cole and Denise Fowler. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Meyer; and his sister, Michelle Jonchuck.
The family will have a private viewing on July 1st at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on July 2nd at First Assembly Church of God at 13435 West Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78216, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Hope Church, 313 W Chihuahua Street, La Vernia, TX 78121, for the new sanctuary.
