She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years William Hartman, her parents, sisters Maxine and Dorothy.
She is survived by her 7 children and their spouses, Bill and Sandy Hartman, Bob and Jean Hartman, Ann Frey, Larry and Donna Hartman, Dan and Kathy Hartman, Kay and John Clifton, Keith Hartman and Ross Guimond. She has 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. “We lived in Long Beach, CA and San Diego, CA during WW II” during Dad’s navy career. She was especially proud of her family, both past and present, who served in all 5 branches of the US Armed Services. Mildred’s family moved to San Antonio when she was a young girl, where she attended and was a proud graduate of Brackenridge High School in 1938. She loved many activities, Bridge, Bunco, Dominoes, and League Bowling. Mildred was a “30 year member of the Bexar Squares, Bexar Squares Dinner Club, long time member of Style Masters Square Dance Club, St. Gerard’s Double Ring Club, Hermann Sons Pershing Lodge, Highland Social Club, and the Moose Lodge”. She enjoyed traveling, meeting, and making new friends, including the ones sitting at the slot machines next to her. Mildred enjoyed her annual family trips to Port Aransas and Rockport, a tradition her husband introduced to her and that her children continue today. She taught her children and many of the grandchildren a variety of card games and dominoes when the weather drove all inside. Mom was “proud to participate in the PTC for all 7 children, and served in all PTC officer positions from parliamentarian to president.” All of us visiting Mom would be offered a warm welcome, a meal, and a cool drink. One of her passions was to improve our table manners during that meal.
The family wants to thank the Staff of Alamo Hospice and Rose for her devoted and loving care of our Mom.
