We were so saddened to hear of Mitch’s passing.  We will miss him in the neighborhood and at our table for Thanksgiving.  We are praying for his family as they come to terms with his sudden passing. We pray that God will comfort you and sustain you through your grief.

It was a pleasure to work with Mitch at BPG Inspections. He had such a desire to succeed and I’ll miss him being on weekly webinars. Rest In Peace!

Oh Mitch, what sad news to learn you have gone on ahead of us. I had so little time with you at the Nautical Research Guild conference in Nevada a couple years ago. But, in those few minutes of conversation, and from watching you lead and guide the organization from a distance, lasting impressions were made. Your wisdom, humility, humor, and steady hand at the helm had brought us away from the lee shore, and back out into seas of opportunity.  It's very difficult to imagine the upcoming October conference without you. As is too often the case, we learn things about a friend only at their passing. I didn't know about your tireless, selfless work supporting Boy Scouts. In that news, you reminded me of another in our community--someone you certainly knew by name and reputation--but not in person: John Shedd, who founded Model Shipways. We'll take some comfort in knowing that both of you will share campfire stories now about your adventures as leaders of those Scouts who gained so much from your dedication.

I'm deeply saddened by the very shocking sad news. Mitch was a wonderful person, a great man in the pipe community, and a good freind of my father.

So sad to hear that we’ve lost this wonderful soul. So appreciated and admired Mitch for all the ways he gave to our Scouts and to the Scouting program. Easy going and funny, yet so hard working and dedicated. He will be missed by the Northwood Presbyterian Scouts and  community:(

I am so shocked and saddened by the loss of a good friend.  I had lunch with him Monday and he was his same friendly, happy person.
We talked about his family, Jacob and Emily, Cal, and Roz.  He hired me as his company's landman in 1999 and 2000 and I worked with him and for him until recently.  The best boss and friend I could hope for.  Others have already written many superlatives and I would like to echo all of them and say Amen.

May his memory be as a blessing to his family, friends and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mitch Michelson was as kind and gracious as they come.  So many of my best Scouting experiences have included his always affable presence. He’ll be deeply missed by the Scouting community and by our community at large. The world would surely be a better place if it had more people in it like Mitch!

Jay Buzzini

This was shocking news, and I am so sad not to be able to talk to Mitch about two of our shared passions -- politics and pipes -- which we did every two weeks for many years. He loved his family and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Mitch was one of the funniest people I have ever met. He was kind, intelligent and always courteous, and he made all of our lives richer. I miss him so much.

Mitch brought positive energy to our Scouting events.  He never missed an opportunity to tell a good Scouting story or to find kind words to say about someone else.  His presence will be missed, but we will always have memories of his contagious smile and deep laughter with us.

Mitch, you will be so greatly missed. We were next door to each other for over 20 yrs.  Saw your smiling face everyday, cherish our lunches together. You were a good friend. Will miss you a lot.

So proud that Mitch helped guide Sam through his Eagle path last Fall and will cherish his signature on that Eagle notebook.  We spent many hours with him and are sad to learn of his passing. Our condolences to the family. You will be missed.

I always enjoyed working with Mitch.  His ability to work with both youth and adults made our world a better place.  I'll miss his intelligence and affable demeanor.

This is hard to believe.  Mitch has been my friend for more than a decade through the pipe smoking community.  He visited our family in San Diego many times where we shared sightseeing, stories, and lots of great food together.  His joyful laugh, quick wit, and wisdom made our visits together meaningful and memorable.  Our deepest sympathies to his children and grandchildren for their loss.

I always looked forward to meetings that Mitch would be at, he had a quick wit, but a sound logic to deal with the many issues Scouting has faced recently. He will be missed by all, he always had a kind word for others and “modeled the way” we strive to behave. We mourn his passing.

Mitch was a wonderful person who cared deeply about his community and about our youth.  He did so much to support our Scouting programs and although he has reached the end of his Scouting trail here, his legacy will continue.  He will be missed.
