Murray was a member of First United Methodist Church of Boerne. He was also a member of the San Antonio Power Squadron and the Oak Hills Country Club.
Murray was a former owner of Winn Stores and developer of the residential community of Windcrest.
Murray graduated from St. Mary's University in 1935 with an Accounting Degree to help with the family Winn Store business.
After the business was sold in the early 50's, Murray envisioned a residential neighborhood on the Northeast side of San Antonio, which became the City of Windcrest.
After developing Windcrest for four decades, Murray and Barbee retired in 1988 to Boerne, Texas. He is survived by; Barbee Taylor Winn, his wife of 63 years, sons Tom Winn and wife Dede, Steve Winn, Randy Winn and wife Cathy, grandchildren Brant Winn, Todd Winn and wife Amy, Andrea Winn, Jason Winn, Sam Winn, Trey Winn, Lindsay Burkey and husband Russell, Patrick Winn and fiancée Michele Flater, Melanie Winn, and great granddaughter Reese Cameron Burkey.
