Nilda Esther Garcia

Nilda Esther Garcia, a beloved grandmother, mother, friend, and cherished family member, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 80. Born October 21, 1943 in Lajas, Puerto Rico to Jose and Providencia Irizarry. Nilda loved her family dearly and always lit up when sharing the stories from her childhood about her mom and dad, brother, and sisters.

Nilda married Eddie Garcia on July 16, 1964, and in addition to being a loving stepmom to Eddie’s children Teddy, Yolanda, and Eddie, Nilda and Eddie had two boys, Adrian and Javier. They celebrated 49 years together until Eddie's passing in 2013. My siblings and I would agree that Nilda did her best and because she did, they will be alright. Once her children were grown and left the nest, Nilda was able to take life's lessons and fulfill her greatest role of all: Grandma!

Nilda absolutely adored all her grandchildren. She was known for her nurturing spirit and her deep commitment to her family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she provided her children and grandchildren with endless love and guidance. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, sharing stories, laughter, and affection.

Her friendships were treasured and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Nilda’s home was always a haven of warmth and comfort, reflecting her generous and caring nature.

Special thanks and love to Waleska Vargas for taking care of and loving Nilda as a mother and supporting her always. Her love and support will stay with us and we will be forever grateful.

Predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband Eddie and her dear granddaughter Debbie, Nilda is survived by her sisters, Aida Iris and Candida, her brother Johnny and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her children: Adrian Garcia and Doris Figueroa, Javier and Raitza Garcia; her step daughter and stepsons: Yolanda Garcia, Teddy Garcia, and Eddie Garcia; her adoring grandchildren: Ariana Garcia, Nilvette Garcia, Teddie Joel Garcia, Brenda Garcia, Sheila Garcia, Eddie Adrian Garcia, Bianca Garcia, and Ernesto Javier Garcia, and a wide network of friends and family who will deeply miss her presence.

Nilda Esther Garcia’s legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
