

Bill Falkenburg, aged 94, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 8, 1932, in Driscoll, Texas, to Madge True Falkenburg and Norman Leland Falkenburg. Bill was a man of quiet strength and enduring love.
Bill grew up in Kingsville, Texas during the Great Depression. As a member of the Silent Generation, he learned to be resourceful, resilient, and unassuming. He attended Texas A&I University briefly before being drafted into the U.S Army. In the army he was selected to be in the initial cadre of special soldiers that would eventually become the Green Berets. After faithfully serving his country, Bill returned to Texas where he began a career in the oil business with Humble Oil and Refining which would later become known as Exxon. Respected by many for his leadership and knowledge in the field, Bill would serve forty years and retire as a Field Superintendent. Some of his fondest memories of his time with Exxon were the wonderful friends and co-workers he had the pleasure of knowing and working with. After retiring in 1992,
Bill moved to San Antonio to live out the rest of his natural life enjoying family, fishing, hunting, and traveling. Bill was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and he continued to draw strength from his faith in the Lord until the end. His gentle spirit and steady presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jo Ann Falkenburg; his children, Gary Falkenburg, Sheila Quimby (Ken), Larry Falkenburg, and Sharon Nix; and his stepsons, Kent Krause (Valerie) and Paul Krause (Anne). He also leaves behind six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren who will cherish his memory. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Frances, and his siblings: Charles Falkenburg, Margaret Cage, Norman L. Falkenburg, Jr., Ruel Falkenburg, Annell Dean, and Herbert Falkenburg.
On Monday, April 27, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 515 McCullough Avenue, a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow. Pastor Chris Johnson will officiate.
Interment is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway.
