May 28, 1927 – June 20, 2016
Olga Kirchner Garcia was born May 28, 1927 to Carlos and Manuela Kirchner. She was the eldest sister of ten siblings of whom six have preceded her in death: Oscar, Fernando, Rudy, Carlos, Ilda and Argie. She is survived by three sisters: Frances, Alicia, and Christina. Olga had five children: Richard, Cindy, Nancy, Charles, and Roger. She was blessed with daughters/son-in-law: Suzanne, Dave, Christy, and Barbara.
Olga's grandchildren include: Bianca Call, Tessa Del Rio, Charles David Eachus, Charles William Garcia, Andy Garcia, Isabella Garcia, Lauren Garcia, Alyssa Garcia, Morgan Lucas, and Brooke Martin. Olga had 9 great-grandchildren, and will soon have two more. She was loved by 45 nieces and nephews.
Olga attended Crockett Elementary, Lanier Middle School and Brackenridge High School. During WW2, she worked at Kelly Air Force Base when she soon met her future husband, Richard F. Garcia, at a dance lesson at her friend's house. They fell in love and married November 25, 1948.
Olga acquired her strength from her mother and passed that on to her children. She was always very proud of her family. She had the insight to let her children make their own decisions and to be responsible. She was a Girl Scout leader, a tutor, a role model, and the world's best chef. She made sure her children went to the best schools and required them to be good students. Her dream came true, all her children are happy in their careers and became good parents.
Olga loved throwing parties, especially Christmas Eve. It was all about keeping her family together. She found many other ways to be involved with her children. She had a tradition of knitting blankets for her grandchildren. As a devout Catholic, she kept her children involved with the church through prayer and the Sacraments.
As her children left home, she found other ways to keep busy. She became a real estate agent and later took on a task that few older people would consider. She learned how to use computers and worked as a bookkeeper for the family construction business until the age of 83. Her love of the Cowboys and Spurs was noted by all.
Olga was a loving and kind person with many friends. She will be dearly missed. Olga died peacefully in her home on June 20, 2016. She was 89 years old.
