Pamela, 81, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 in San Antonio. "Pam" was born on December 28, 1940 in Louisville, KY and out of 6 children was the only daughter of Frederick and Mary Virginia Abrams. She married the late F Michael Oakes, at 17 years of age. They lived together in Kentucky for many years and relocated through Mikes job to Hartford Connecticut and then finally transferred to Texas. Pam and Mike were married for 62 years. They were members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX.
Pam was a proud Louisville Cardinal and graduate of University of Louisville with a Masters degree in Education. She was a gifted and talented teacher who was loved by her students in Kentucky, Connecticut, and Texas for 36 years. Pam retired from Matzke Elementary in the Cypress Fairbanks school district in Houston, Texas. She was a member Whos Who in America and the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education.
Pam was a devoted mother of 4 children and embraced every opportunity to spend time with them as well as her many grandchildren. She loved her Kentucky family and friends as well and visited as much as possible. Pam was a fun-loving person who loved laughing with family at every gathering. Her family looked forward to her embellished stories remembering that infectious hysterical laughter which ended with dismissing the story altogether. Her love and laughter will be sorely missed.
Pam is preceded in death by her loving husband; Michael, her parents; Frederick and Mary Virginia Abrams, brothers; Lynn Abrams and Gregory Keith Abrams. She is survived by son; Michael Oakes (Jeannie), daughters; Gigi Kershner (Daniel), Lisa Poole (Dana), Gina Korsi (Richard), brothers; Victor Abrams, Jan Abrams, and Kevin Abrams, grandchildren; Tori Poole, Shelby Korsi Olson, Samantha Oakes, Jeremy Korsi (Kayla), Mickala "Micki" Oakes, Kyle Kershner; chosen grandchildren; Chase Kershner, Michael Devon (Haley), Patrick Devon, great-grandchildren; Evan Olson; Baylee Korsi and Madison Jane Korsi. She is also survived by her caring and loving best friend Margit Abrams.
The family has elected to have a private ceremony with burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Interment date has not been finalized at this time. We thank you for your prayers as we lay our loving mother to rest.
