Pat Henry Gardner

He was born to parents Maurine Kellogg Gardner and Paul "Buck" Gardner on October 31, 1930 in Carrizo Springs, Texas preceding his twin brother, Paul F. Gardner, by 28 minutes.

Pat grew up with his brother in Carrizo Springs, Texas under the care of his mother, father and five "grandmothers". His great grandfather was the legendary Texas figure, King Fisher. Pat had an active childhood including an incident wherein Paul recounts, "Pat received an ax cut to his chin and an arrow in his forehead inflicted by a brother who had difficulty besting him in a fair fight". Pat graduated from Carrizo Springs High School and later attended the University of Texas in Austin with his twin brother. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas in 1952 where he later received his law degree in 1954. Pat then served 4 years in the United States Air Force as a JAG officer. Following his military service, Pat joined a San Antonio law firm, which later became known as Foster, Lewis, Langley, Gardner and Banack and practiced real estate law. Pat was considered one of the top real estate attorneys in the state of Texas. Pat avidly supported the Texas Longhorn football program and was San Antonio's first recipient of the Texas Longhorn Football Alumni of the year award. Pat was also an avid golfer and a 40-year member of Oak Hills Country Club. In his lifetime, he was fortunate enough to hit three hole-in-ones, one of which resulted in a free automobile and another which was made after losing most of his eyesight. Pat was an individual who always put others first. He will be remembered as a most generous and loving person to both his family and friends. His greatest gift was his endless sense of humor, even in the face of numerous lifelong challenges. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Carole Byrd Gardner; twin brother Paul Fisher Gardner; two sons, Patrick Henry Gardner, Jr., and Gregg Byrd Gardner; daughter, Tracey Gardner Stanger; six grandchildren, Kendall Ann Stanger, Michael Gardner Stanger, Travis Mark Stanger, Katherine Stanger Gardner, Margaret Elizabeth Gardner and Erin Marie Gardner and numerous other family members and dear friends.
