
Patrick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nannette Clooney Edwards and his youngest son, David Scott Edwards.
Patrick's eldest son, Charles Lawrence Edwards has been with our Lord since 1976. Patrick is the son of Zelah Maxwell Giovanni and step-son of Charles Lawrence Giovanni, both of Lake Charles, LA.
Patrick's ancestors can be traced back to Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. Patrick and Nannette, also from Lake Charles, LA, married on November 5, 1950, in Lafayette, LA.
Patrick graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Patrick served in the USAF from 1951-1955 as a Nuclear Supervisor and as a 1st Lt, he was certified under the leadership of Edward Teller PhD at Los Alamos Laboratory.
Other accomplishments included: Nuclear Engineer working on the Nuclear Powered Aircraft Project for General Dynamics. Lead Development Design Engineer for the Supersonic Low Altitude Missile SLAM guidance systems and was the Unit Supervisor for the group responsible for configuring all telemetry data downlink to the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas from 1967-1969 Apollo program, Director of Computer Projects for Texas Heart Institute, Texas Children's Hospital and St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital 1969-1974 Senior Engineer at Bechtel Engineering 1975-1983.
He retired from Boeing Aerospace in Houston and was recognized for his effort in support of the Space Shuttle Program.
He expertly played the piano and could do so by ear. He loved music, Gershwin was his favorite. Patrick enjoyed deep thinking discussions.
He believed in the power of prayer and in the Salvation of Jesus Christ. One of his favorite passages was 1 Cor 13.
A private entombment will take place in Memorial Oaks Mausoleum in Houston, TX on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, where Patrick will be laid to rest next to his eldest son Charles. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Pat's life on Tuesday 12 Aug at the Marriott Courtyard, 12401 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX, starting at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to your favorite charity in memory of Pat.
