

Paul Wesley Wright, 95, died peacefully of natural causes, Friday, July 13, 2012. Paul was born June 22, 1917, to Leonard E. Wright and Eva Catherine (King) Wright near Griggs, OK. After the death of his father when Paul was 19, he supported is mother and siblings as a teacher and high school principal. Paul graduated from Pittsburg State University majoring in Math. He served his country in the US Navy from 1945-1946, graduating 1st in his Naval Training School class. He continued serving his country rising to Training Administrator, Headquarters Air Training Command at Randolph Air Force Base until his retirement in 1975, earning a Meritorious Civil Service Award. ATC replaced him with two men. Paul enjoyed advanced math, complex puzzles, computers, singing in Castle Hills First Baptist Church Senior Choir, gardening, and regular exercise. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lois Ballard, Thelma Jones, Bernice Edwards, and Gertrude Heckethorn; and his brother, Leonard Wright. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis L. Wright; his daughter Dr. Lynnea S. Wright, San Antonio; his son, Bryan D. Wright, and daughter in law, Karen Russi Wright, Charlottesville, VA; and three granddaughters: Marguerite Celeste R. Wright, Boston, MA, Madeleine S. Wright, Evanston, IL, and Alice E. Wright, Richmond, VA. His interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be private and a memorial service in his honor will be scheduled at a later date.
