

Peggy Fugate Allen, age 77, died peacefully October 23, 2007 with family and friends in San Antonio, Texas, her home since 2002. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and educator - she was passionate about family.
She committed her energy to protect and guide friends, students, and family with unparalleled grace, insight, and finesse. Peggy was born in Maramec, Oklahoma, to Ben Randolph Fugate and Annabelle Platt Fugate on 12 July, 1930. She graduated from Stillwater High School, completed a dual major in Education and Home Economics, with honors at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, and a Masters in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
She was selected into membership of Omicron Nu and Phi Delta Kappa national honoraries. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year in Kay County, Oklahoma, and balanced life commitments to students, family, and community as a teacher and counselor in Tonkawa and Tulsa, OK, public schools for 14 years. Her love of books, her reverence for our heartland, and her ardor for sailing, skiing, ballroom dancing, world travel, interior design, and gardening enriched the lives of all those she touched.
Peggy is survived by devoted husband, Colonel Thomas J. Allen, EdD, US Army, Retired; twin brothers Sam Fugate and his wife Geraldine of Redmond, OR, and Ben Fugate and his wife Jetta of Modesto, CA; her son Thomas Allen and wife Marilyn of Tulsa, OK; her daughter Cynthia Allen Abbott, RN, PhD, and grandchildren Michael and Caroline Abbott, of San Antonio, TX.
