It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Peggy Anderson, who entered the presence of our Lord and Savior on May 9th, 2025, at the age of eighty-seven. Though we grieve, we take comfort in knowing that she is now rejoicing in Heaven, embraced by the everlasting love of Christ.
Peggy Anderson was born on October 31, 1937, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Johnnie and James Jackson, where she grew up with her sister Dona. In 1976, Peggy moved to Kingwood, Texas, and began her career with the Humble Independent School District, where she worked as a language arts aide and a librarian at Creekwood Middle School for sixteen years. She joined Forest Cove Baptist Church and became an active member of the singles Sunday school class. A devoted mother, Peggy instilled Christian values in her children, teaching them to trust in God’s plan and to live with grace.
She married Harold Anderson on August 10, 1985, and they faithfully served at Forest Cove Baptist Church until his passing in 2002. Peggy moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 2005 to be closer to her family and spend time with her grandchildren. As a dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church and her beloved Lamps Sunday school class, Peggy found joy in worship, fellowship, and ministering to others. Her heart for family and fellowship left a lasting impact on many lives, and her love for Scripture was evident to all who knew her. One of Peggy’s favorite Bible verses, Jeremiah 29:11, beautifully reflects the way she lived life—a testament to faith, hope, and love.
Peggy Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and James Jackson, her husband, Harold Anderson, her sister, Dona Jackson Watkins, and her stepdaughter, Carolyn Anderson Martin. She is survived by her daughter Julie Hill (Gerald), son David Harper (Brandy), daughter Amy Allen (Court), stepdaughter Sherry Pegues (Randy), brother-in-law Cecil Watkins, father of her children, James Harper, ten grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy forward.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on May 27 at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Caren Goodman, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church in honor of Peggy Anderson’s lifelong commitment to faith and service. If you would like to make a donation, please use this link https://www.shelbygiving.com/app/giving/tbcsa and reference “in honor of Peggy Anderson.”
Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the hope of eternal life promised through Jesus Christ. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23). May Peggy Anderson’s life be a reflection of God’s grace, and may her memory continue to inspire all who knew her.
