Peter Rivers

Peter Rivers, age 52, went on to be with the Lord on November 13, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 26, 1964 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Samson and Dorothy Rivers. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1982 and then entered the U.S. Army, where he studied as an optician. After being honorably discharged, he continued working in the optical field before transitioning to accounting and finance. Peter earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He loved his ‘Runners! He most recently earned a Master of Science Degree in Financial Management and Information Systems from the University of Maryland University College. For the past five and a half years, Peter worked as an Accounting Supervisor for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He worked hard, but he also enjoyed watching sports, fishing, and golfing and was quite the animal lover. Peter was a loving father, son, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Rivers, Isaac Rivers, and Joseph Rivers; father Samson Rivers; mother Dorothy Rivers; brother John Rivers; sisters Cassandra Rivers and Yolanda Edwards; nephews Derek Edwards II and Bryant Edwards; niece Kristina Edwards; granddaughter Divine Rivers; aunts; uncles; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at Resurrection Baptist Church, 1002 Live Oak Road, Schertz, Texas on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. The Interment Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (Shelter #4) on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
