Phil was a step-dad that was loving and caring and always treated all of us with respect. Many times I would accompany him on his mail route and as we travelled we would have long conversations about religion. He was steadfast in his christian beliefs and tried to walk each day in the Lord’s footsteps. Without a doubt he will be walking beside him now in heaven. RIP and it was a pleasure having you in my life! Kelly Sherman

Not only are we related by blood we are brothers in service. He served in the United States Marines.

Sending thoughts, prayers and hugs to everyone that had Phil in their life.  I was fortunate enough to have him as a step dad and get a wonderful baby sister, Sarah.  I was also introduced to his family and they accepted us like one of their own.  He was always willing to help people in need and never judged anyone.  He would always listen to a persons back story and would give them the shirt off his back if needed.  That is something that I learned from him and try to practice often.  I think we probably gave him several grey hairs when we were teenagers but he always had our backs and never made us feel unloved.  Rest in peace, Phil and watch over us all. XOXO

Phillip is survived by his daughter: Sarah Thorp;Step-Children,sisters: Brenda Kay Shuffield Sebastian, Charleen Shuffield Stowe; Aunts: Katherine Willis (Uncle Jim) and Connie Linker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
