

Phil was born in San Antonio on May 14, 1941, to Dorothy and Joe A. Peacock. He lived briefly in Corpus Christi, but graduated from Alamo Heights High School before going on to the University of Texas where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. After college, he joined the US Air Force serving his country for seven years.
Phil was in investment banking for 10 years before joining the trust department of a local bank. He then began a 48-year career as a real estate broker, beginning with the largest custom home builder in San Antonio before opening his own real estate firm. In 1997, he founded the internet company Apartment World. Through his association with the National Multi Housing Council throughout the early 2000’s, he created Ft. Sam Off Post Housing which eventually merged with Housing1Source. Throughout his career, Phil was an active member of the San Antonio Board of Realtors as well as the Texas Realtors and National Association of Realtors.
Phil was a sixth generation Texan and was very proud of his ancestors Judge William C. Menefee, Signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, and William D. Sutherland, an Alamo defender. He was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, served 58 years in the Texas Cavaliers and loved being referred to as a river rat.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved son, Brandt. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 Years, Sallie Steves Peacock. He is also survived by his siblings: Richard, Carol Peacock Barrett, Bebe Peacock Gorman and husband, Jack, Bobby and wife, Cyndy; sisters-in-law, Iris Peacock and Mollie Zachry; as well as a large extended family including 23 nieces and nephews who refer to him affectionately as Uncle Phil and Cinco.
Honorary pallbearers are his 12 nephews. A memorial contribution can be made to The Brandt Peacock Acolyte Fund at St. Mark’s or to a charity of your choice.
