'I was a roommate (along with Tim Brownback) with fellow Texan Bear Brown in Beast Barracks USMA 1959. Bear was a 100% solid friend during our time together when we were being 'introduced' to the unique requirements and traditions of USMA. I only regret not getting back in touch with him during the years after I left the Academy. Here's to Bear Brown: 'Hip Hip Hoooray'!!! May he rest in eternal peace.'

'Ralph Bear was one of my roommates during Beast Barracks at West Point, one of those times when a person's true character becomes most apparent. He showed himself to be a young man of sterling character during those days of intense pressure. He was a good friend and roommate, and I only regret that our past and not cross during the intervening years.'
